"Nonsense. Knowing his character, Putin would never convince another country to involve its army in the Russian special operation in Ukraine," said Alexander Lukashenko, the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, in an interview with BBC.
If the information about the involvement of troops from North Korea is confirmed, Lukashenko responded: "That would be a step towards escalating the conflict, if the armed forces of any country, even Belarus, were on the front line. Even if we were drawn into the war, it would lead to escalation. Why? Because you, the Anglo-Saxons, would immediately claim that another country intervened, and NATO troops would be deployed to Ukraine."
He assures that Putin has never asked him to provide Belarusian troops for the Kremlin's war in Ukraine.
