The war in Ukraine will end through negotiations, according to Austin.

"We need to reduce tensions in the Middle East and find a way to achieve a transitional period in Ukraine. We will continue to support Ukraine, as we have already stated, and they will determine for themselves when it is time to sit down at the negotiating table. But, as I have mentioned before, this conflict will eventually conclude with negotiations," - said U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.

During a meeting with the Pope, discussions centered on global security issues and the importance of peace initiatives in conflict zones, including the Middle East and Ukraine.

Austin expressed gratitude to the Vatican for its humanitarian efforts and emphasized the importance of further collaboration to alleviate the suffering of those affected by wars.
