This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with Polish journalists on Thursday, January 16.
The head of state noted that the Russians have brought destruction to Ukraine, but the country has been preserved, partly thanks to Poland's assistance. Currently, the situation on the eastern front of Ukraine is the most challenging. In combat conditions, everything can change rapidly.
"There are moments when the initiative shifts from one side to another. There are villages that change hands between us and the enemy, and vice versa. This happens. The most difficult situation is indeed in the east, where there is a high concentration of Russian troops and equipment, and we have fewer forces there today, but they are suffering significant losses," Zelensky noted.
He also added that due to technological advancements, such as drones and electronic warfare, the enemy is being held back. However, assistance is still lacking, Zelensky emphasized. He is convinced that the main issue is not a shortage of personnel, but rather a deficit of equipment and resources.
It is worth recalling that President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that currently about 34% of the weapons used by defenders on the front are produced in Ukraine. The production capacities have been significantly increased and will continue to grow.
The President of Ukraine also reported that the Ukrainian army currently comprises 880,000 fighters. At the same time, the enemy has over 600,000 of its military personnel on Ukrainian territory.
