The occupying forces of the Russian Federation continue to actively pressure the Ukrainian Defense Forces by employing flanking attack tactics.
This was stated by military expert Vladislav Seleznev, former press secretary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during a broadcast on the "Espresso" channel. He noted that the situation in Selydove is as challenging as in the neighboring Toretsk.
"The enemy continues to apply its flanking attack tactics. It is having an impact. Since the operation in the Popasna area, the enemy has consistently used this tactic to take control of our settlements," he explained.
According to him, when the question arises about whether to save the lives of Ukrainian warriors who are at risk of encirclement or to defend a piece of land, the answer is clear: the lives of our defenders are paramount.
Therefore, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are compelled to maneuver, retreating to more advantageous positions. This implies that control over certain settlements may be lost. Most likely, this will also happen with Selydove.
"Our Defense Forces have not been able to find effective means to counter such audacious enemy attacks," he noted.
In the near future, it is expected that combat operations will shift to urban areas, which represent the most complex form of warfare. If the enemy can threaten to cut off the last logistical route supplying the garrison in Selydove, our forces will likely be forced to retreat from their occupied positions, Seleznev added.
