This was reported on Sunday, January 5, during the telethon "We are Ukraine" by the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy Dmytro Pletenchuk.
According to the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, Dmytro Pletenchuk, the occupiers employ a wide range of measures daily to secure the Crimean Bridge, including smoke screens, patrols by FSB coast guard boats, and layered air defense systems.
"The Russians fully understand the significance of this facility from both military and propaganda perspectives. They are investing enormous resources to protect the bridge, and this is perhaps the only reason it is still standing there," Pletenchuk noted.
However, even such thorough defense does not shield the Crimean Bridge from attacks. According to the spokesperson, recent "incidents" involving sea drones that inflicted significant damage on Russian helicopters have highlighted the bridge's vulnerabilities.
"After the drone strikes, Russian aviation has become more cautious. However, practice shows that the occupiers only respond after repeated strikes. Therefore, we can expect that following the next incident, their protective measures will be further intensified, although this will not address the fundamental issues," Pletenchuk added.
The spokesperson for the Navy mentioned that while the occupiers' actions are consistent, they are not always effective, and the Russians often react belatedly, making decisions only after a series of failures.
It is worth noting that the Russians are actively reinforcing the Crimean Bridge with various structures. We also reported that the occupiers sent nearly a dozen ships into the Black Sea, but quickly returned them to their bases.
