"DTEK Energy" invested approximately 2.6 billion UAH in repairs and restoration of thermal generation over the first 10 months of 2024 and continues to vigorously restore thermal power plants despite the start of the heating season due to unprecedented levels of destruction.
"What the Ukrainian energy system has endured over two and a half years of war is unparalleled by any energy system in the world. At the epicenter of the massive attacks from Russia is thermal generation, 90% of which has been destroyed or damaged. However, Ukrainian energy workers have taken on this challenge as well, working day and night to restore as much capacity as possible," noted DTEK Energy's CEO Alexander Fomenko, as quoted in the company’s press release on Tuesday.
By the end of 2024, the company’s investments in repairs and restoration of thermal power plants are expected to reach 3.8 billion UAH.
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, DTEK Energy's thermal power plants have been attacked by the enemy nearly 190 times. Fifty-six energy workers from the stations were injured, and three people lost their lives. Only between March and June of this year, the enemy conducted seven mass attacks on the company’s thermal power plants.
"DTEK Energy" provides a closed-cycle production of electricity from coal. As of January 2022, the company’s installed capacity in thermal electricity generation was 13.3 GW. A complete production cycle has been established in coal mining: coal extraction and enrichment, machinery manufacturing, and maintenance of mining equipment.
