About this, Andrzej Duda mentioned in an interview with the publication wPolsce24, which was published on Friday, January 17.
The President of Poland addressed Volodymyr Zelensky in the interview, urging him to refrain from publicly criticizing Polish politicians, especially during the election campaign. Previously, the President of Ukraine commented on Karol Nawrocki, who stated that Ukraine cannot join NATO and the EU without resolving the issue of the Volhynia tragedy. Duda noted that Karol Nawrocki's understanding of the Volhynia tragedy far exceeds that of Zelensky.
"Karol Nawrocki is the head of the Institute of National Remembrance, and thus he possesses a substantial amount of knowledge and data. He has undoubtedly spoken many times with experts on this topic. Therefore, I would be cautious in engaging in a debate with Karol, especially with Karol Nawrocki," Duda emphasized.
The Polish leader added that he did not understand Zelensky's motivation. Duda also recalled the tension in relations with the President of Ukraine two years ago.
"I was not very pleased with this situation. Back then, there were also two months until the parliamentary elections in Poland, and now a campaign is underway again, and the situation is similar," Duda stated.
It is worth noting that on January 15, President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Poland for a visit. In Warsaw, he met with the country's Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
During the conference, the Polish Prime Minister declared that he would not allow the Volhynia tragedy to be used in political games. According to Tusk, the primary and common threat for Ukraine and Poland is the Russian Federation.
