The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced this on the social media platform X on Thursday, January 16.
Von der Leyen congratulated Rosen Zhelyazkov on his new position. She also expressed gratitude to Bulgaria for its support of Ukraine.
"I congratulate Rosen Zhelyazkov on his election as Prime Minister of Bulgaria. I look forward to working with you for a prosperous Bulgaria in a strong and united Europe. I also appreciate your support for our brave neighbor Ukraine. Wishing you success," wrote the President of the European Commission.
It is worth noting that Ukraine received the first tranche from the European Union of frozen Russian assets, amounting to 3 billion euros.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. They discussed Ukraine's future accession to the EU, as well as the work of the new composition of the European Commission.
