The war has impacted the lives of Odessans, radically changing their reality, as reported by journalists from Novini.LIVE.
The war has touched every Odessan in one way or another — some have husbands, brothers, fathers, or friends currently in the trenches. Others will never see their loved ones again. This pain will last a lifetime, and time cannot heal it.
"My relatives are fighting, and I feel very hurt for them with what is happening now, and it's sad that people are dying. It's impossible to live normally because of the curfew and everything," — Maxim shares.
Similarly, Odessan Liana is aware of the terrible price Ukraine pays for our freedom. Today, the loss of friends and family is a reality we all must come to terms with. All of this has drastically altered life.
"Life has changed drastically. People are dying, our warriors. Several of my friends have died, one of my friends is missing — it's a tragedy," — Liana noted.
Constant worries and anxieties inevitably affect one’s psycho-emotional state. Natalia notes that she is always concerned for those defending our country today. The longer the war continues, the more it weighs on her.
"I have one worry in my heart — for the children, for the sons, for the men, for everyone. Nothing has really changed; it's even worse," —Natalia says.
People admit that the war has stripped them of their sense of security. The lack of confidence in tomorrow has become the norm. Ekaterina points out that she sometimes fears even taking her child outside. It’s hard to label the current state as normal.
"I'm always stressed. You can't freely go out for a walk with a child — an air raid alert could start, explosions could happen, and this could cause stress for the child. My husband can't go anywhere or leave; he worries about being taken away," — Ekaterina confesses.
In addition to the emotional toll, the war has also affected the economic situation. Rising prices, low salaries, and financial instability are becoming increasingly problematic. Vasily notes that he has been very alarmed by prices in stores lately.
"Life has become much worse — it's related to prices and salaries. I feel sorry for people, especially the young guys; it's really sad," — Vasily remarked.
Yulia agrees with Vasily, noting that prices have changed significantly in wartime. The rapid increase in prices is one of the main issues of our time.
"Life has worsened; it's hard to live, prices are rising. We are scared, our life is not joyful," — Yulia shares her thoughts.
Three years of war have changed everyone. But alongside these challenges, Ukrainians have grown stronger, more united, and appreciate their country even more. And as the struggle continues, so does the hope for a peaceful future.
