Корниенко заявил, достаточно ли у Украины средств для организации выборов.

Korniyenko questioned whether Ukraine has the funds necessary to conduct elections.

Currently, partners are not funding expenses related to the elections in Ukraine because there are none. However, this could potentially be negotiated in the future.

This was stated by the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Oleksandr Korniyenko, at the forum "Democratic Resilience of Ukraine During the War and in the Period of Recovery" on Tuesday, February 11.

Funding Elections in Ukraine

According to Korniyenko, currently, most taxes are directed towards the military, and this trend is unlikely to change for a certain period after the war ends. However, he believes that it will be possible to negotiate funding for election expenses with partners.

"In order to budget for elections, we need to understand how they will be conducted. This can only be done after the adoption of a special law," said Korniyenko.

He also added that currently, everyone is engaged in political discussions. Yet, no one is addressing how to enable people to vote in areas where FPV drones and UAVs are flying.

It is worth noting that during the forum, people’s deputy Yelena Shulyak also commented on the elections. She pointed out that it is not the right time to discuss this and provided a reason.

The head of the capital, Vitali Klitschko, also emphasized that the focus should be on the war. Nevertheless, in his opinion, political electoral processes in the country have already begun.
