According to preliminary estimates from the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), Ukraine's international reserves decreased by 6% in October, or by $2.32 billion, bringing the total to $36 billion 578 million.
"The dynamics of international reserves in October 2024 were influenced by the NBU's currency interventions aimed at covering the structural currency deficit in the market and smoothing out exchange rate fluctuations, as well as the country's foreign currency debt repayments," the central bank stated on its website on Wednesday.
The NBU notes that these operations were only partially offset by inflows from international partners and from the issuance of foreign currency domestic government bonds (OVGZ).
At the same time, net international reserves (NIR), according to NBU statistics, fell by $3.11 billion, or 12.2%, to $22 billion 437 million.
