This was shared by Boris Johnson during the Special YES meeting held before February 24 in Kyiv, organized by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, as reported by a correspondent from Novini.LIVE.
Johnson emphasized that Trump's comments aim to increase the involvement of European countries in supporting Ukraine.
According to him, it is crucial to be realistic—acknowledge Trump's statements while also developing independent strategies.
"Americans, when talking about Ukraine, tend to depict everything in 'black and white.' This is not the right approach. It should be a sovereign country dedicated to the goal of joining NATO. I believe that in the end, Putin will lose, and Ukraine will win.", Johnson highlighted.
Recall that Johnson pointed out that Trump wants to express Republican skepticism towards Ukraine, but he aligns with Kremlin narratives.
Additionally, President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine requires security guarantees from the USA, which should be enshrined in an agreement.
