Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced a new economic policy focused on supporting entrepreneurship, ensuring business safety, and maintaining government integrity towards it.
"Despite all the challenges of war, the Ukrainian economy remains fundamentally resilient. It requires a new economic policy from our state. A policy that will be based on several key elements," he stated during his speech in the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday.
According to the president, the first point will be maximum support for Ukrainian entrepreneurship, localization, and production within Ukraine, as it is essential to expand access for Ukrainian producers to public procurement markets.
He believes that everything that can be produced in Ukraine should be produced in Ukraine and purchased from Ukrainian manufacturers.
"Effective insurance against military risks is essential. There needs to be consistent deregulation and protection of entrepreneurial freedom, which will be reflected in economic growth. A gradual reduction of the state's share in GDP redistribution is required," the head of state emphasized.
The second important principle of Ukraine's new economic policy will be the safety of doing business and reducing pressure on businesses from all state institutions that oversee others rather than creating added value themselves. Zelensky is confident that the attractiveness of the Ukrainian jurisdiction and investment inflow are inseparable from the protection of every "white" business in Ukraine.
The third principle is honesty in the relationship between the state and business, as, according to Zelensky, the state is interested in maximizing legal employment in Ukraine and reducing the shadow economy.
He added that this cannot be achieved solely through forceful measures; entrepreneurs need incentives for legalization rather than new pressures.
Zelensky believes that such an economic policy can lead Ukraine to sustainable economic growth, a sufficient level of defense needs fulfillment, and the preservation of human capital, allowing Ukrainians to realize themselves and their aspirations in Ukraine.
"Without a strong economy, this will not happen. And there will be no strong economy without respect for entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs. Therefore, we are not just talking about economic solutions. We are discussing the future," the President of Ukraine concluded.
