Is it possible for the war to end in 2025, and under what conditions? This question was posed by journalists from Novini.LIVE to the residents of Odessa.
Most residents of Odessa hope that this year Ukraine will finally achieve the long-awaited peace. However, even with such a significant hope, they are cautious about predictions, joking that they could inadvertently "jinx" their happiness. This sentiment is echoed by Natalia, who believes that such decisions should be made by the authorities.
"We are all eagerly awaiting this. Both the people of Odessa and most Ukrainians. I don't know when this war might end. I really hope it will be this year. But I wouldn't dare say how exactly it should be resolved by the authorities." — Natalia shares.
On her part, Odessa resident Nana has high hopes and expectations for this year. However, she does not forget that dreams will not win the war; it is the military who will. And we must believe in them even more.
"I want to believe at least in some sort of conflict freeze. But we must believe in the best and in our guys, because if we don't believe, then there's no point in living at all. Perhaps politicians will reach some consensus. We might have to give up territories, but the most important thing is the people. Therefore, we will gradually find ways to uplift the country." — Nana expresses.
Victoria also hopes for the conclusion of the war. However, she is convinced that this does not solely depend on human desire, but rather on the military and the decisions of politicians.
"Of course, there is hope for that. But it all depends on how politicians decide. Unfortunately, it is beyond our control. But I believe the war will continue for another couple of years,” — Victoria adds.
In Odessa, there are those who categorically reject any opinion about negotiations with the aggressor, and this is quite understandable. After all, their loved ones are currently on the front lines fighting for our freedom. One such person is Odessa resident Julia, whose husband is defending Ukraine in the Pokrovsk direction. She not only believes in victory but also trusts that Donald Trump will help achieve it.
"God willing, it will end. My husband is currently at the front, and I haven't heard from him for a day. I miss him dearly and await the end of the war. I truly believe in Trump and that he will bring Putin to his knees,” — Julia emphasizes.
Some people believe that the end of the war this year is unlikely. In particular, Odessa resident Nadezhda is convinced that peace must be sought through diplomatic means. In her opinion, the current situation is just a waste of resources and aid from partners, which could be used much more effectively to achieve real peace.
"I don’t believe it at all. As long as they continue to fund us without monitoring where that money goes, the war will continue. It will only end when politicians sit down at the negotiating table. Perhaps even this month,” — Nadezhda concludes.
Today, all Ukrainians share a common, cherished desire — to win in the brutal war initiated by Russia. But victory depends on our collective contribution, and only when everyone plays their part can it truly become a reality this year.
We remind you that Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga stated that Ukraine continues to strengthen its relations with NATO, which facilitates better coordination in providing military assistance.
We also reported that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky explained why the current situation at the front is particularly challenging in eastern Ukraine. He promised to do everything possible to stabilize the front by January.
