Посол ЕС провела параллель между ситуацией в Украине и Мюнхенским соглашением.

The EU ambassador likened the situation in Ukraine to the Munich Agreement.

The European Union Ambassador to Ukraine, Katarina Maternova, emphasized that the future of Ukraine and the negotiations regarding it cannot be resolved without its participation. In her statement, she drew a historical parallel to the Munich Agreement of 1938, when major powers made decisions about Czechoslovakia without its consent.

Katarina Maternova made this statement at the Kiev Security Forum.

Katarina Maternova Criticized Any Negotiations About Ukraine Without Ukraine

Katarina Maternova stated that, as a native of Czechoslovakia, this issue holds special significance for her, and she considers any similar situation regarding Ukraine unacceptable. The official emphasized that, unlike the Czechs and Slovaks of that time, Ukrainians today have a clear subjectivity and prove it daily by demonstrating resilience in their fight for independence.

"And let me take a moment to remember that I am from Czechoslovakia. You probably read this on my Facebook, as I felt the need to say it after the events of this week. So, the word 'Munich' is imprinted in our consciousness from the moment we are born as a historical mistake. It was an agreement about us without our participation, therefore, for me, this is an absolutely unacceptable position concerning Ukrainians. Unlike the Czechs and Slovaks, Ukrainians have and feel their subjectivity, demonstrating it daily," — said Katarina Maternova.

At the same time, the diplomat acknowledged that Kyiv needs assistance. She assured that the European Union and its member states remain the largest donors for Ukraine. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the EU has allocated over 140 billion euros, of which 50 billion is directed towards military support. These amounts are significant and comparable to the scale of aid provided to Ukraine.

"Yes, we need help. Yes, we will provide you with this help. The EU and its members are the largest donors. More than 140 billion euros. Of which 50 billion is military assistance. These are indeed very significant and comparable sums," — stated the EU ambassador to Ukraine.

Maternova also noted that, considering changes in global geopolitics, Europe needs Ukraine not only as a partner but also as a component of its own defense. She reminded that the security of the continent directly depends on Ukraine's resilience against Russian aggression.

Recall that recently the head of Ukraine's GUR, Kyrylo Budanov, commented on what Donald Trump meant regarding the end of the war in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he communicated with Czech President Petr Pavel regarding ammunition.
