Simple daily habits enable families to gain two to three times more benefits from electrical appliances without incurring additional costs, saving over 1100 kWh of electricity annually per household, reported the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine on Monday.
"Replace incandescent bulbs with LED ones – it's an easy way to reduce energy consumption by 10 times! For instance, 5 LED bulbs of 9W each instead of standard 60W bulbs can save up to 680 kWh per year," the ministry noted.
According to the agency, turning off lights in empty rooms saves about 90 kWh annually, while disconnecting devices in standby mode allows families to save an additional 138 kWh of electricity per year.
"Substituting at least one hour of TV or computer usage with another activity can save 144 kWh annually," the Ministry of Energy advised consumers.
Moreover, as highlighted by the Ministry of Energy, chargers continue to consume energy when left plugged in after charging. Unplugging them can save up to 26.3 kWh per year for each device.
