Pokrovsk is a priority for the Russian occupation forces, but as long as the Kurakhove bulge exists and they cannot secure the southern flank, they are unable to commence an offensive on Pokrovsk itself.
This was stated by military-political analyst Alexander Kovalenko from the "Information Resistance" group in an interview with Yevgeny Kiselyov.
Therefore, according to the military expert, the Russian occupiers are currently deploying their most capable units to the Kurakhove direction.
"What units are these? First and foremost, they are the Central Group of Forces, the Second Combined Arms Army, the Fifth Combined Arms Army, the 90th Tank Division, the 55th, and so on.
Additionally, from the Dnipro Group of Forces, the 61st Separate Marine Brigade has been transferred there, meaning that the brigade was completely withdrawn from the Oleshki area on the left bank of the Kherson region and redeployed specifically to the Pokrovsk-Kurakhove direction to reinforce the Second Combined Arms Army, which is suffering tremendous losses," Alexander Kovalenko stated.
The military expert added that our current strategy is defensive, and our goal is not so much to hold the position, as that is not feasible, but to slow down the advance of Russian troops through our defense, depleting their resources and delaying the formation of conditions for an offensive on Pokrovsk for as long as possible.
"What is most important is to delay the main phase of the offensive campaign on Pokrovsk for as long as possible," Alexander Kovalenko emphasized.
