Russian occupiers have breached the defenses of the town of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region and advanced several kilometers west of the Seversky Donets River. This information comes from Bild, citing military analyst Julian Repke. According to reports, after several months of unsuccessful attempts to cross the canal, on October 18, the "Chechen vanguard" managed to break through the defenses of Ukrainian forces and capture territory, advancing by 2.5 kilometers.

This recent achievement by the Russian army could be pivotal for further advances into the center of the town. Repke states that the Russians are likely to turn north and focus on attacking the central areas of Chasiv Yar. At the same time, the expert warns that this breakthrough may have serious consequences for Ukrainian positions.

Chasiv Yar is a crucial stronghold for defense in the Donetsk region, as it is located near important communication and logistics routes leading to major cities such as Kramatorsk and Slavyansk. A breakthrough in this area allows Russian troops to expand their control over the territory and increase pressure on other Ukrainian positions in the Donbas.

According to the operational-tactical group "Lugansk," on October 11, Russian forces were actively trying to penetrate the defenses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Chasiv Yar, bringing in new troops to the front lines. Three days later, on October 14, it was reported that the Russians had managed to slip past the canal to the southeast of the town.
