Sikorsky made this statement during the Munich Security Conference on Saturday, February 15.
The politician reminded that Ukraine gave up its nuclear weapons and, in return, allegedly received a guarantee from Russia regarding the inviolability of its borders.
"Are you suggesting that we provide guarantees in case of another Russian attack? What do you mean by that? Does it imply that we will start a war with the Russian Federation?" — Sikorsky stated.
In Sikorsky's view, if guarantees are to be effective, they must entail exactly that — the commencement of war with Russia.
"Therefore, if we are offering guarantees, they must be genuine," — Sikorsky clarified his position.
Previously, Sikorsky speculated that Putin is unlikely to meet with Trump quickly. The new U.S. administration must recognize that the Russian dictator is now quite different from what he was before.
Additionally, Sikorsky suggested that Europe might soon face significant pressure. Such actions will be aimed at reaching an agreement with Moscow.
