Trump confirmed his conversation with Putin—what topics were covered.

Donald Trump announced this on the social network Truth Social on Wednesday, February 12.

What Trump Discussed with Putin

The two parties talked about Ukraine, the Middle East, energy, artificial intelligence, the strength of the dollar, and many other topics.

"We both reflected on the great history of our nations and how successfully we fought together in World War II, remembering that Russia lost tens of millions of people, and we also lost so many! Each of us spoke about the strengths of our people and the significant benefits we will one day gain from working together", Trump emphasized.

According to him, they agreed that it is essential to stop the millions of deaths occurring in the war in Ukraine. Trump mentioned that Putin used the slogan of his campaign: "Common Sense." The U.S. leader noted that they both believe in it.

The parties agreed to collaborate, including visiting each other's countries.

"We also agreed that our respective teams will immediately begin negotiations, starting with a call to President Zelensky of Ukraine to inform him about our conversation, which I will do right now", Trump highlighted.

He requested Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, and Ambassador and Special Envoy Steve Whitcoff to lead the negotiations. According to the U.S. leader, millions of people have died in a war that would not have occurred if he had been president.

"No more lives should be lost! I want to thank President Putin for his time and efforts regarding this call, as well as for the release of Mark Vogel yesterday, a wonderful man whom I personally congratulated last night at the White House. I believe that these efforts will lead to a successful resolution, hopefully soon!" — Trump added.

Recall that Trump stated that Russia's release of American teacher Mark Vogel gave him hope for ending the war.

Trump also secretly appointed another envoy to work on the Ukraine issue. This person is Stephen Whitcoff.
