The detention of Zinchenco in the Farion murder case has been extended.

On Friday, January 3rd, the court in Lviv extended the preventive measure for the suspect in the murder of Iryna Faryon, Vyacheslav Zinchenko, who will remain in custody without the possibility of bail.

Zinchenko Remains in Custody

According to the court's decision, Zinchenko will remain in custody for another 60 days. The detention period has been extended until March 4, 2025, without the right to bail.

It should be noted that the start of the court hearing was delayed due to a report of a bomb threat at the courthouse.

Recall that Vyacheslav Zinchenko's crime has been reclassified, which means he faces a harsher penalty if found guilty.

The investigation established that on July 19 of this year, the 18-year-old defendant shot at Irina Faryon from a distance of about two meters. The attacker used a pistol and then fled the crime scene.

Law enforcement also found that the defendant joined a group in one of the messaging apps back in 2022, which promoted a culture of violence and cruelty, as well as incited racial, national, and religious hatred and discrimination.

The defendant's lawyer insisted that Vyacheslav Zinchenko is not guilty of the murder, claiming he was "in the wrong place at the wrong time."
