By the end of the year, Ukraine is expected to see the installation of between 600 and 800 MW of small-scale electricity generation facilities, which will ensure reliable energy supply for businesses and communities that manage to set them up, reported Yuri Boyko, advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine and member of the supervisory board of NEC "Ukrenergo."
"There are estimates that by the end of the year, Ukraine will have introduced between 600 and 800 MW of distributed generation. This is neither too little nor too much. Speaking in terms of Ukraine as a whole, this is certainly insufficient to confidently declare guarantees of energy supply and preparedness for any scenarios regarding shelling. However, locally, for those who manage to install it, this will provide guaranteed energy supply under any scenario," Boyko said during a briefing at the Media Center in Kyiv on Wednesday.
He also noted that he anticipates a boom in distributed generation next year, as it not only offers guaranteed energy supply but also represents lucrative business projects, considering the electricity prices in the market.
"Therefore, these projects will definitely move forward, and the figures next year will be significantly higher," said the Prime Minister's advisor.
