The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine has focused its efforts on implementing artificial intelligence (AI) to help unemployed Ukrainians find suitable job vacancies, overcoming barriers to women's employment, reskilling, and mastering new professions, as stated on the agency's website on Wednesday.
According to Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Tatyana Berezhnaya, the Tony Blair Institute conducted a labor market study in Ukraine and identified key tools for engaging Ukrainians in economic activities.
"We are collaborating with world-renowned institutions that have extensive international experience to implement the most effective policies for strengthening the labor market. The Tony Blair Institute presented nine directions that could enhance employment and economic activity among the population in both the short and long term," she explains.
Tatyana Berezhnaya noted that the current work is concentrated on three main areas: the introduction of technologies in the labor market, leveraging AI in the job search and recruitment processes, and overcoming barriers to women's employment, along with reskilling and acquiring new professions.
According to the Tony Blair Institute's research, currently, 37% of unemployed individuals in Ukraine are willing to change professions or undergo retraining.
Over the past year, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, in collaboration with the State Employment Service and donors, has implemented a number of retraining programs for Ukrainians. Approximately 100,000 people have acquired new professions or enhanced their qualifications.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed structural challenges related to the war and mass migration, which are impacting the labor market in Ukraine. In particular, they emphasized the need for effective tools to facilitate the return of Ukrainians home, engage them in employment, foster entrepreneurship, and create jobs.
