В 2024 году Украина утратила 10 ГВт энергомощностей, из которых восстановлено 5 ГВт, сообщает министр энергетики.

In 2024, Ukraine lost 10 GW of energy capacity, of which 5 GW have been restored, according to the Minister of Energy.

In 2024, Ukraine managed to restore approximately half of the 10 GW of electricity generation capacity lost due to military actions by Russia, aided by the Energy Support Fund, as reported by Energy Minister Herman Haluschenko.

Due to military actions by the Russian Federation, Ukraine lost 10 GW of electricity generation capacity in 2024, but has managed to restore about half of it, thanks to the Energy Support Fund, reported Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko.

"Out of the 10 GW, we have returned 5 GW to the system, primarily through the Energy Support Fund, where with your assistance we have accumulated over EUR 1 billion," he stated during a joint meeting of the Ukrainian government and the European Commission on Monday evening.

Halushchenko also noted that applications from energy companies for assistance from the Fund have already exceeded EUR 1 billion, and approximately EUR 0.5 billion more is needed "to meet urgent needs."

Assessing the impact of the war on the energy sector, the minister pointed out that, in addition to the lost generation capacities, Ukraine is experiencing losses in its own gas production. Furthermore, he mentioned that the Russian Federation poses a threat to nuclear safety due to the occupation of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and emergency shutdowns of other nuclear plants as a result of its attacks. He also highlighted that several rotations of the IAEA mission at the ZNPP have been disrupted due to Russian shelling.

At the same time, the minister emphasized that Ukraine, together with its European partners, has successfully navigated another military winter.

As reported by the head of the Ministry of Energy Halushchenko on Monday morning, over the course of three years of full-scale war, the Russian Federation has occupied 18 GW of capacity and carried out more than 30 massive coordinated attacks on the energy sector.

Additionally, the Ministry of Energy's presentation noted that over the years of war, more than 60,000 energy facilities have been affected, with 10 GW destroyed or damaged just in 2024. Meanwhile, in 2023, Ukraine managed to restore 3.2 GW of capacity, and in 2024 - 5 GW.
