In 2024, ferroalloy enterprises in Ukraine collectively reduced their output by 49.4% compared to 2023, resulting in a production total of 108.15 thousand tons, down from 213.59 thousand tons.
According to the Ukrainian Association of Ferroalloy Producers (UkrFA), the production of silicomanganese decreased by 45% in 2024, amounting to 104.15 thousand tons, while ferromanganese saw a decline of 66.5%, dropping to 3.6 thousand tons.
Additionally, the production of ferrosilicon (calculated on a 45% basis) fell to 0.12 thousand tons from 10.49 thousand tons, and no metallic manganese was produced, in contrast to the 0.03 thousand tons produced in 2023.
Furthermore, 0.28 thousand tons of other ferroalloys were produced (compared to 2.94 thousand tons in 2023).
The Pokrovsky (formerly Ordzhonikidze) Mining and Processing Plant (PGOK, Dnipropetrovsk region) and the Marganets Mining and Processing Plant (MGOK, Dnipropetrovsk region), which extract and process manganese ore, did not produce any output in 2024, whereas in 2023, PGOK produced 160.31 thousand tons of manganese concentrate, while MGOK was idle.
As reported, the Pokrovsky Mining and Processing Plant (PGOK, previously Ordzhonikidze Mining and Processing Plant) and the Marganets Mining and Processing Plant (MGOK, both in the Dnipropetrovsk region), part of the Privat group, ceased the extraction and processing of raw manganese ore in late October to early November 2023, while the Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant (NZF) and the Zaporizhzhia Ferroalloy Plant (ZZF) halted their production. Subsequently, the ferroalloy enterprises resumed operations at a minimal production level. Specifically, ZZF operated two furnaces at 7% capacity starting May 1, 2024, and NZF also began operations at the end of June 2024.
PrivatBank (Kyiv), prior to nationalization, managed the operations of NZF, ZZF, MGOK, and PGOK.
The Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant is controlled by the EastOne group, formed in the autumn of 2007 as a result of the restructuring of the Interpipe group, as well as the Privat group (both based in Dnipro).
