"Укрэнерго" призывает предприятия подключать свои резервные генераторы к энергосистеме для повышения надежности и устойчивости электроснабжения.

"Ukrenergo urges businesses to connect their own backup power generation units to the energy system."

NEC "Ukrenergo" offers consulting services to businesses and industrial enterprises to encourage companies that have set up generating installations for their own needs—acting as backup power sources—to engage in the electricity market.

NEC "Ukrenergo" offers consultations to businesses and industrial enterprises to engage companies that have installed generating units for their own needs as backup power sources in the electricity market.

"Currently, there are more than 150 such generation facilities among the member enterprises of the Employers' Federation (counting capacities of 1 MW and above)," - reported the system operator in a Telegram channel on Tuesday after a meeting between NEC leaders and representatives of the Employers' Federation of Ukraine.

As noted by the acting chairman of the board of "Ukrenergo" Alexey Brecht, many enterprises imported and connected generating units of various capacities to their internal networks last year in preparation for winter.

"Fortunately, we are managing to get through the cold period without prolonged outages. The gas turbine and gas piston units imported by businesses and industry are simply idle. Meanwhile, the owners do not earn profits, and the energy system of Ukraine does not utilize a significant capacity of this generation," - he explained.

According to Brecht, the government has significantly simplified the procedure for connecting to the networks, and "Ukrenergo" is ready to provide businesses with consultations on various options for operating in the electricity market.

"All for the sake of ensuring that our cooperation yields positive results for all parties," - emphasized the head of the company.

Additionally, representatives of NEC and the Employers' Federation of Ukraine discussed collaboration on equipment and material procurement with representatives from around thirty industrial enterprises.

"The discussion focused on the possibility of increasing the share of Ukrainian products in the list of everything our company purchases. Businesses provided their proposals, while representatives of "Ukrenergo" indicated what domestic products are currently lacking for energy workers due to their absence in Ukraine," - noted NEC.

In turn, just a few days earlier, during a panel online discussion titled "Distributed Generation: Current State, Prospects, and Obstacles," organized by the UN Global Compact in Ukraine and ExPro Consulting, Brecht highlighted that "Ukrenergo" plans to clarify how to operate in the market and meet with businesses and the Employers' Federation on this matter.

"We will take on a light educational role; we are already preparing relevant proposals with a specific set of initial data and easily understandable information regarding the path that needs to be taken to ensure self-sufficiency and to effectively utilize capacities during challenging periods for the Unified Energy System," - said the head of NEC.

He stated that there is currently a problem where businesses simply do not know how to become market participants and operate effectively within it. Brecht added that businesses have invested heavily in building relatively small generation facilities - "that's hundreds of megawatts," which they primarily position as a means of self-sufficiency in case of need, but this is not as efficient as it could be if they were operating within the market.

As reported, "Ukrenergo" is implementing capacity restrictions for industry and businesses on Tuesday due to damage to energy facilities as a result of Russian missile and drone attacks.
