Одесский суд вынес решение по делу о самовольном оставлении части.

Left the unit without permission – what the Odessa court decided.

The Odessa Regional Court found the sailor guilty of desertion from his military unit during a state of martial law. The accused failed to report for duty and evaded his responsibilities for over a year.

This information was obtained by Novini.LIVE journalists from the verdict of the Saratov District Court.

Case Details

The serviceman was mobilized in February 2022 and assigned as a driver for the grenade launcher unit of the marine corps. In July 2022, without obtaining permission from the command, he left the unit after formation, citing dissatisfaction with his transfer to another unit. Instead of fulfilling his duties, he stayed at home until November 2023.

The court took into account that the defendant fully admitted his guilt, expressed remorse, and came forward with a confession. Additionally, he had no prior convictions, performed mediocrely in his duties, but had a tendency to consume alcohol. During his service, he participated in combat actions.

What Sentence Did the Court Impose

At the time of his arrest in December 2024, the court ordered him to be held in custody. According to the ruling, the term of imprisonment will be calculated from the moment of arrest. The court found no circumstances to mitigate the punishment, considering the severity of the crime and the conditions of martial law.
