In memory of those who lost their lives during the Maidan, an event was organized in Kyiv. The memorial march took place as is tradition — every year, the families of the deceased, Maidan participants, and concerned Ukrainians walk the route from the Lyadski Gates to Mykhailo Hrushevskyi Street. Participants lit candles and laid flowers at the memorial plaques.
On January 22, 2014, 20-year-old Serhiy Nihoyan from Dnipropetrovsk and 25-year-old Belarusian Mikhail Zhiznevsky, who fought for Ukraine's freedom on the Maidan, suffered fatal injuries. Additionally, the body of Yuriy Verbitsky from Lviv, who had been kidnapped the day before, was found near Kyiv showing signs of torture. On the same day, 45-year-old Roman Senik from Lviv was injured and later died in the hospital. Maidan activists Oleksandr Badera and Bohdan Kalinyak also lost their lives.
It is worth noting that Ukrainian soldiers who died at the front were honored by Volodymyr Zelensky and Keir Starmer. The politicians laid flowers at the Wall of Remembrance of Fallen Heroes in Mykhailivska Square in Kyiv.
Residents of Dnipro paid tribute to those who died during the shelling. The city's inhabitants laid flowers, candles, and toys near the ruins of a house.
