Ukraine has enough natural gas to get through the autumn-winter period of 2024/2025, taking into account its consumption by energy facilities, according to Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko.
"We will have enough gas to pass the heating season. Moreover, we will have enough gas considering the increased consumption at generation facilities," the minister stated during the "Hour of Questions" to the government in parliament on Friday.
He also emphasized that Ukraine has all the necessary agreements for gas import "in the required volume, should the system need it" for the heating season.
As reported, citing the Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, Oleksiy Chernyshov, at the beginning of October, Ukraine will enter the heating season of 2024/2025, which is expected to start on November 1, with gas reserves exceeding 13 billion cubic meters. According to him, the target is 13.2 billion cubic meters.
At that time, the underground gas storage (UGS) held 12.6 billion cubic meters.
Additionally, Chernyshov specified that as of November 1, the gas purchase under the "customs warehouse" (CW) regime, carried out as a reserve through a loan from the EBRD, will amount to "around 500-600 million cubic meters."
A few days ago, Chernyshov wrote on Facebook that during the heating season of 2023/2024, Ukraine used 6.7 billion cubic meters of gas from UGS. This season, he expects similar figures.
