During his second official visit to Kyiv, UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy will announce the allocation of GBP 17 million for innovative energy projects aimed at supporting the recovery and resilience of Ukraine's energy system.
"The InnovateUkraine competition will encourage collaboration among British, Ukrainian, and international companies and research institutions to seek sustainable, scalable, and resilient energy solutions for the future," the UK government stated on its website on Wednesday.
The British government emphasized that despite ongoing Russian attacks on their energy system, "Ukrainians have demonstrated that with the right support and international cooperation, they can harness ingenuity and innovation to keep the lights on and protect themselves from Russia's unlawful invasion."
"Producing clean, reliable, and affordable energy is a crucial part of Ukraine's fight for freedom and its defense against Russia's attempts to weaponize energy," the UK government message concluded.
