Consumers utilizing electric heating systems will now pay a full rate of 4.32 UAH per kWh only for the electricity consumed beyond the limit of 2,000 kWh. For the energy consumed within the limit, they will be charged at a rate of 2.64 UAH per kWh, as reported by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
"During the heating season, the state has ensured that the electricity tariff for the population remains unchanged at 4.32 UAH per kWh. A preferential tariff of 2.64 UAH is also provided for those using electric heating systems. Until now, this applied to those consuming up to 2,000 kWh of electricity per month. However, many people consume more than this limit and have been forced to pay the full tariff," — wrote the Prime Minister on Telegram on Friday.
He indicated that to address such situations, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution to differentiate the preferential tariff through a mechanism of special obligations (VSO — special obligations imposition).
"This decision is part of a comprehensive support package for Ukrainians that we are implementing this winter and will continue after its conclusion," — noted the Prime Minister.
As reported, during the question hour for the government on January 17, Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko stated that the current electricity tariff for the population allows for financial market balance, hence there are no plans to raise the tariff at this time.
The electricity tariff for residential consumers from June 1, 2024, to April 30, 2025, is set at 4.32 UAH/kWh. This applies to consumers in multi-apartment and private houses, dormitories, garden associations, and garage cooperatives.
Additionally, during the heating period (from October 1, 2024, to April 30, 2025), a preferential tariff is provided for consumers using electric heating systems: for consumption up to 2,000 kWh - 2.64 UAH/kWh for the entire volume, and for consumption over 2,000 kWh - 4.32 UAH/kWh for the entire volume.
At the same time, the "night tariff" with a two-zone meter is set at 2.16 UAH/kWh.
