This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on Friday, January 17.
Diplomats from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, North Macedonia, Romania, Slovenia, Turkey, Croatia, and Montenegro gathered in the capital of Ukraine. Officials discussed ways to enhance cooperation and to advance together on the path of Eurointegration. The conversation also included support for Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression.
"This is a very important ministerial meeting that develops the Ukraine — Southeast Europe format, embodies the agreements of our leaders, and deepens cooperation between our countries for the sake of security, peace, and justice in Europe," noted Andriy Sibiga.
As a result of the meeting, the diplomats adopted a joint communiqué that emphasizes support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and its defense capabilities. The document also highlights the need for a just peace and the principle of "nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine."
Additionally, the diplomats agreed to collaborate on integrating Ukraine and the Western Balkan countries into the EU. EU member states expressed their readiness to share their own experiences.
"All of us, the countries that are on the path to joining the European Union, are not competitors but like-minded partners who aim to contribute to enhancing security and stability in Europe through EU enlargement," stated Andriy Sibiga.
It is worth noting that Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga stated that sanctions against Russia are effective. According to the official, Russia is experiencing negative consequences from these restrictions.
Andriy Sibiga also commented on the potential for negotiations with Russia. He asserted that Ukraine adheres to the principle of not engaging in direct talks with Putin.
