This was reported by MP Mykhailo Tsymbaliuk during the broadcast of RanoK.LIVE on Friday, February 21.

Why Holding Elections During Wartime is Dangerous

According to the MP, it is essential first to conclude the state of martial law and achieve victory in the war before voting can take place. Conducting elections at this time poses several risks, particularly since individuals in temporarily occupied territories will be unable to cast their votes. Additionally, military personnel not only have the right to vote but also to be elected.

"Imagine if all or some of the brigade commanders wanted to run as candidates. They would go for it, and they have the right to do so. They would leave the battlefield. What would we need to do according to the law then? Demobilization. Just think, we would weaken the Armed Forces at the line of demarcation. What would Putin do? The same things he has been doing since 2014 during the Minsk agreements," the MP emphasized.

It is worth noting that Elon Musk suggested to Volodymyr Zelenskyy to hold elections to counter Donald Trump's claims of a supposed "4% rating." However, conducting elections during wartime is not feasible under the Constitution of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Anna Skorokhod, a MP from the "Servant of the People" party, stated that Ukraine and Russia would soon sign a peace agreement. Following this, Ukrainians can expect presidential, parliamentary, and local elections.
