Zinchenko Remains in Custody

According to the court's decision, Zinchenko will remain in custody for an additional 60 days. His detention period has been extended until March 4, 2025, without the option for bail.

Additionally, the start of the court hearing was delayed due to a report of a bomb threat at the courthouse.

It is important to note that Vyaсheslav Zinchenko's charges have been reclassified, which means he faces a harsher penalty if found guilty.

The investigation revealed that on July 19 of this year, the 18-year-old defendant fired a shot at Iryna Faryon from a distance of about two meters. The assailant used a pistol and then fled the crime scene.

Authorities also discovered that the accused had joined a group in a messaging app back in 2022, which promoted a culture of violence and cruelty, as well as incited racial, national, and religious hatred and discrimination.

The defendant's lawyer argued that Vyaсheslav Zinchenko is not guilty of the murder, claiming he was "in the wrong place at the wrong time."
