This is reported by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

How many Syrians have returned home

According to the UN, 115,000 Syrians who left the country due to the war have returned home following the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime.

Specifically, 35,113 individuals returned from Turkey, and more than 22,000 from Jordan. Additional returns were recorded from Lebanon and Egypt.

Despite this, approximately 664,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) remain within Syria, 75% of whom are women and children. At the same time, nearly 486,000 IDPs have already managed to return to their homes.

The UN urges the international community to continue supporting both refugees and internally displaced persons to ensure their safe and dignified return.

Recall that on December 8, Syrian state television reported the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime. Thousands of citizens began returning to Syria.

Subsequently, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine delivered 500 tons of wheat flour to Syria. This aid is provided under the humanitarian program "Grain from Ukraine." The flour will be distributed among 33,250 families, which amounts to approximately 167,000 people. Each 15-kilogram portion will be sufficient to feed a family of five for a month.
